Vintage Indian War Canteen; Canvas, Cork &Chain; Unit Markings;1878 Pattern

Great Indian War to Early Spanish-American War; 1870s to early 1890s. Stencil marks identified as “2”; “U.S.- G -78”. Canvas stained and a little rust spots but no holes on canvas, no rips, no tears at all. Very decent shape. It still has both metal triangular shoulder strap holders or attachment tabs. Canteen also has cork, ring stopper, and attachment chain with a mounting original clip on spout so soldier could not lose the cork in the battlefield. Nothing Stamped on spout; and no soldier identification. Really nice US Army Canteen from 130 to 150 years ago. See all photos and details as no returns. Nice display items for the military collector. This is an original 1878 Pattern Canteen. Plus, I feel no dents underneath canvas cover.
